Happy Thanksgiving!

Today, we’re supposed to sit around, eat a lot of turkey, and reflect on what we’re thankful for.

I’ve sent notes to a couple of friends this week letting them know I’m thankful for the influences they’ve had on my life this year, but they’re not all I’m thankful for.

What I’m most thankful for this year is that crazy group of people who are just about the only reason I still have my sanity- my wonderful, never boring students.

Part of why I went into teaching is because it’s always amazed me how much you can learn from your students. My students have taught me how to pick my battles, how to completely lose my cool with a smile and a calm voice, how to be the most unhip adult in the world and still be awesome. They’ve also taught me about compassion, strength in the face of insurmountable odds, fighting for what you want (even when boring tasks are in the way). They’ve also reminded me to laugh when I was pretty sure I wanted nothing more than to put my fist through a window.
I’ve been truly blessed to know each and everyone of my students this year, and I treasure everything they bring along with them and share with me. They brighten even the worst days.
